Environmental - The BLUE Project
BLUE connects people, their lifestyle and their passions by harnessing the popularity of adventure sports that showcase the natural environment.
BLUE works with world-class sports men and women who share their experiences, their passion for the environment and their commitment to healthy living with the wider community.
Sport is intimately connected to nature and for some athletes it is the relationship with the environment that inspires and motivates them. The Great Big Paddle hopes to work closely with the Blue Project to motivate and inspire an active awareness of the environments in which we train, exercise and travel.
Community Sport - The BLUE Mile
A BLUE Project Initiative, a BLUE Mile is a mile travelled on water under human or wind power. The Great Big Paddle is committed to improving accessibility to local waterways and coastlines for men, women and children to experience watersports for the first time. The BLUE Mile is a super way to encourage people who previously didn't have the inclination or opportunity to take part in water sports, and it also provides an excellent challenge for which the general public can raise charity sponsorship in return for doing BLUE Miles.
School Visits
Dave has been speaking in public for years, sharing his experiences from expeditions and specialising in raising the aspirations of young children. If your school, business or organisation would like Dave to visit please get in touch.
Our Other Aims
- Support, encourage and actively work to make paddlesports inclusive and accessible to all. They're great fun, keep you healthy and out of the house!
- Approximately 71% of the Earth's surface is water. Many of our oceans, rivers and coastlines are facing their own local battles, many environmental and some man-made. We have a duty to protect the water on our planet, after all, it ensures we survive. Everyone at The Great Big Paddle is determined to raise the profile of major issues facing the water systems through which we paddle, on long or short journeys.
